About Our Church

The archdiocese is a part of the patriarchate of Antioch, which was founded by the Apostles Peter and Paul (Acts 11:26). It was in Antioch that the followers of Christ were first called Christians. Recently, due to the tremendous growth of our archidiocese in the United States and Canada, we are now under the jurisdiction of our Father and Bishop Basil. Our archdiocese, under the able leadership of Metropolitan Philip, sought and gained autonomy from the Antiochian Patriarchate. Although our ties remain very deep with our mother church, this archdiocese is now an American church serving the American faithful. The services are conducted mainly in English.

Divine Liturgy with Father Michael takes place on Saturdays, according to the posted schedule, and Typica services with Deacon Elias or Subdeacon Thomas take place on Sundays, according to the posted schedule. Services begin at 10 AM and lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes. After the service, it is our custom to have coffee hour in the hall of the church where all our families and guests are encouraged to share in fellowship.

A Note to Our Visitors

We are glad to have you worshipping with us. We hope you will introduce yourself and join us for coffee following the service.

Since we understand Communion to be a sign of our unity of faith, only Orthodox Christians who have prepared themselves through prayer, fasting and periodic confession are permitted to participate in Holy Communion. All present, however, are welcome to partake of the blessed bread, which is distributed at the end of the service.
